Validated high-performance thin-layer chromatographic analysis of curcumin in the methanolic fraction of Curcuma longa L. rhizomes

Abstract Background In the present study, an HPTLC (high-performance thin-layer chromatography) method was developed for quantitative determination and validation of curcumin in methanolic fraction Curcuma longa L . For achieving good separation curcumin, mobile phase chloroform:methanol (97:3) used. The densitometric analysis performed at 420 nm reflection/absorption mode. Results Linearity obtained range 100‒600 ng per spot. During analysis, C. showed presence a quantifiable amount curcumin. content found to be 1.5% (per dry weight). Conclusions is specific, simple, precise, accurate. data can have used routine reported biomarkers crude drugs extracts. quantification not yet been which utilized proper standardization plant.
